A peek into Linda’s stash…

Linda sent me this photo of her fabric stash. She is using hanging shoe and sweater organizers and they look a lot better than I thought they would. In fact, if I did not already have shelves in my own fabric closet, I’d use this system. I like the way the fabric is compartmentalized.

Linda’s Fabric Stash

Linda has a lot less fabric than she used to have, and a lot less than I have. But you know what? This looks like a really good size for a stash. I know I have too much fabric (again). It’s too hard to find what I’m looking for, especially when I don’t really know what I’m looking for. Having too many choices can make choosing harder, not easier. I am looking at Linda’s very tidy closet with envy :-).

In other news, my foot is doing really well! The doctor had me cut the bandage to relieve the pressure on my foot on day two and that took the pain away. I can even put a little weight on it today (as per doctor’s orders). I’m still only allowed to be up only 5 minutes at a time. The rest of the time I have to sit with my foot up. The better I feel, the harder that is to do, but I’m sticking to it.

  1. Proud of you for following doctor’s orders. Please remember that the doctor does that for a reason. Actually, I am writing this to myself! May you continue to heal and do it quickly!

  2. I found when I was laid up I got to the fuseable projects I kept setting aside. Great time for applique. Even if I only could do something for 10 minutes and it kept me in the game. I will be having knee surgery soon so I am getting set. I hope you have a quick recovery.

    • So far I’ve managed to spend 2 full days on Christmas cards. I have no idea how our list got so long but it’s nice to send out so many season’s greetings!

I am now on day two of cleaning out all of my digital photo files. I suspect it will take two more days. If I manage to make it through these files, I may start going through boxes of real photos.

After that I have fabric to work with!

  3. I really enjoyed seeing how Linda stores her stash. But a word of caution, be sure to buy sturdy hanging storage units if you choose this route. I had a sweater hanger, like Linda’s hanger for her blue fabrics, and when I filled it full of fabrics, it collapsed. Just be sure you have strong units and they work really well.

  4. Is your foot still swollen? If so, put some curd on it for about half an hour. That takes it away. We tried that after my husband’s knee operation. It worked wonders! I hope you’ll feel better soon,

  5. Sounds like you’re making good progress on things that need to be done – and often get left behind. I also have much too big of a stash (a 14 foot closet filled!) I give plenty of fabric away, but it still seems to grow!
