I love the US Postal Service!

And I love the commemorative stamps that the Postal Service offers. I have bought them for years. I have a stash of untouched sheets of my favs because I appreciate the care that went into making each tiny work of art. My latest favs are the Sesame Street stamps. They make every envelope happy.

If you’ve never bought commemorative stamps (reallly? you never have?!) here’s a thing you might not know. The whole sheet is peel and stick. The image on the right can be cut out, peeled off, and stuck to something—like the Blackwing Clutch Notebook that I’ll begin using next week. It is so cute!!!

On a more serious note, the Postal Service does more than provide fun stamps. I rely on the post office to deliver packages and mail. If you order from me at pieceocake.com, your package will be delivered by the post office.

If I could get the attention of anyone in power, I would ask them to please stop messing with the Post Office! I would ask them to please support the PO with whatever funds are necessary. With so many other things to worry about, I really don’t want to add the Post Office to the list.

  1. Thanks for the tip. I didn’t realize there was sticky stuff on the part without stamps. I’ll have to do that today. I love the Sesame Street stamps too.

  2. You’re absolutely right. You were ahead of the crowd because I just read yesterday that we should all buy stamps during this time to help them. It sounds like so little but if we all did it, it would be a lot of money. The lack of business mail has been a crisis for them and 100s of thousands of people would be unemployed if the government doesn’t help out. If the govt. can help the air travel business, this is just as important.

  3. I think our PO is essential! I’m a dinosaur and pay my bills by mail. I don’t have a smart phone either, just a flip phone. Oh and a land line of course, AT&T not happy. You can order stamps on line if you want to avoid Office. You would have a large selection that you don’t always have a the Office.

  5. My grandchildren live far away from us so I am ALWAYS mailing packages to them through US Mail. Over the years, I have become familiar with the Post Office Ladies (as I call them). Becky, after I read your blog about the masks, I made about 40 to mail to health professionals. I also
made three masks in patriotic colors for the PO Ladies since they have always been so kind and helpful. When I went to mail the package and give the masks, one of the ladies told me that she
is a cancer survivor and was worried about how she would get a mask so she was thrilled. Her response to the mask was a bright light in this troubled time. Thank you for the post!

  6. My Post Office is wonderful! I live in a small town, and the employees at the Post Office are so helpful when I phone with a problem or a question. Last week, I needed large envelopes from the P.O. to mail four baby gifts, and I didn’t want to spend much time in the P.O. lobby addressing the envelopes. I phoned to ask what size envelopes were available, so I could fold the baby blankets to the proper size. Not only did I get the information I needed, but also the person with whom I talked said, “How about I just drop you four envelopes in your mailbox when I go out to lunch? Then you can address them at home, and your time in the lobby will be minimized.” Way above and beyond!
Oh, and I always purchase commemorative stamps – pretty ones!

  7. Hi Becky, I’m with you, I love USPS!! And I love stamps. In this “Stay at Home” period in MN, I’m trying to promote letter writing with my 8yr old granddaughter It is so satisfying to hold a card or letter in your hands. Much more so than electronics (but they have their place, especially now).

I’m also passionate about the library, would much rather read a book in my hands instead of e-edition. And the newspaper as well. Something about that physical connection. Probably the reason I’m a quilter.

Can’t wait to receive my recent POC order by mail.

    Stay well. Joan Goetteman

  8. I have always enjoyed commemorative stamps. I had not seen these sweet Sesame Street stamps, but will definitely pick some up now. In these crazy times, we can all use more reasons to smile and what a great way to send a smile out to others by way of Happy Mail. Thanks for sharing & inspiring ways to find joy/share joy!

  9. Everything I mail has a special stamp. I love them. Some I save and can’t send them off. What would we ever do without the post office.

  10. I get emails daily about closing the Georgetownx TX post office. I wasn’t taking the email seriously but now I will read them. You know who is in control of the US government now and they always want to get rid of the post office and all other government agencies that benefit all people of US. Maybe your US representative is willing to talk to you. Our here is not willing.

    • I live in Texas too. I’ve tried to get my voice heard and my guys (nearly all men) do not listen. At all. I vote, and will continue to vote, and maybe one of these days my vote will be one of the ones that removes these guys out of office.

  11. I totally agree–the USPS is an essential service, and I think it’s absolutely necessary or the government to support them. It’s time for us to figure out how to order stamps online! We’ll choose something cool!

  12. I agree with all. I do not need or want a privatized postal system. Small P.O. are part of the community. Our postal worker knows all the gossip in the neighborhood. The one the works his off days always leaves “bones” for our dog. If the dog is out on his rope, the dog goes right up to his truck and gets fed several small MilkBones. Our dog loves both mailmen. If they come +he is inside, he barks nonstop to go out to visit them.

  13. I will admit I’m not happy about the prices going up at the USPS, but I understand why. Since fewer people send anything through the mail, this is what has happened.
When I receive packages via any other service, more than 50% of the time, there’s damage to the outer box. With USPS, I don’t have this problem. It’s made me appreciate the PO more than in the past.
