I had four more photos that didn't seem to fit well in any of the previous posts. Here they are…
It was fun to see how they used small pumpkins: strung tightly together into garlands, strung farther apart in streamers. And there was that hanging thing that was a cross between and mobile and a chandelier. It was better looking in person – here you mostly see the corn husks – but still, a nice idea.
Individual little pumpkins were wrapped with a bit of flexible (copper?) wire and hung on the fences… None of these pumpkin ideas would be hard to do at home.
I didn't take many flower pictures but could not pass up this pink hibiscus. The way the bud sits, head held high, was nice.
I found one iron manhole cover that just needed to pose with my new boots! Don't you love this design? It would be nice in a cutaway applique…
That's the end of the Dallas Arboretum pictures. I'm teaching in Granbury, TX, Monday. It's my last 'real' job this year. Then I hope to turn my attention to planning the quilts for my next book. Oh happy, happy day!

I love all the pictures from the Dallas Arboretum. I really want to see the Chihuly exhibit before it leaves.
I’m looking forward to meeting you tomorrow and taking your class. Even though I already applique, I’m looking forward to learning your method to see if I might like it better than what I’m already doing.
See you tomorrow morning!

Becky, thanks for sharing all the pictures. I really like the man hole cover, but will have to enjoy it when you do the cut away applique. I don’t have the talent or the patience that you do.
Also, liked your new books.

Daughter and I went to the Arboretum as her vacation treat….took many many pictures but yours were MUCH better…. thanks for sharing them with us.
Was indeed a fun day and an amazing exhibit. Never heard what happens to the “art” when a show is over? Does it get sold at some garage sale? LOL

A docent told us that the art goes back to Chihuly central, in Seattle I think. They re-use it, but not in quite the same way.
I heard from a friend the other day that much of the glass at this show was broken by hail earlier this year. I sort of remember hearing that. Happily, they were able to replace it relatively quickly.
