The center background is a print with lots of trees. There are 12 trees appliquéd on the center but you could alter that to suit yourself.

Rather than turn piece applique I’d like to use sew & seam then use clear thread to applique edges. What do you think?

I’m a big believer in using the technique that makes you happy. I prefer hand sewing, but that’s me :-). You should do it the way you prefer.
