It’s official!

Lorna is pregnant! Come January, Chris and Lorna are going to be outnumbered. Elanor and Jack are very excited, as are we all. I got permission from the proud parents to release the first official photos of Baby #3.

Sonogram-1

I never had a sonogram with either of our boys. I don't think they were as commonly given back in the day. Now you get pictures with text added ("Hi Mom and Dad") which is admittedly pretty cute. There's also an action shot!

Sonogram-2

I doubt that they can tell at this stage if it's a boy or girl and none of us want to know anyway. It's a baby that looks to be normal and healthy – that's the important thing.

  1. Congrats!
I never wanted to know what I has having either, just wanted him/her to be healthy!
I loved the surprise in the delivery room of a baby boy or girl.

  2. Wonderful news! And I love the last great surprise, thank goodness both my daughters and their spouses feel that way too!

  3. Fabulous news! Somebody wonderful to meet in the new year! Exciting. Agree that sonograms were not routine back in our day – my son born in 1980 – but think some of it may be due to all the lawsuits.

  4. Absolutely the best news ever! And the new baby picture is fantastic! No, they didn’t do sonagrams back in the day unless they suspected big problems. Baby looks like he or she has their parts and is growing as expected. So, what’s the plan for a baby quilt? Have you started thinking yet?

  5. In answer to Mary Ellens question, Ive sort of started to think about baby quilts. Amazingly enough, neither Jack nor Elanor were blankie sorts of kids. Jack does love the quilt I made for his bed a couple of years ago and Elanor has the sweet pea quilt on her wall.
I think I will wait a bit and get serious about a quilt for #3 later. I might even wait until he or she is a year old.

Waiting to make a quilt is fine BUT they have to have fleecies! Just buy a yard of fleece (preferably non-pill) and cut it in 1/4s and then on one end, cut 1×4″ strips. The mothers LOVE these and can’t have enough of them. You can also cut even smaller ones for the car seat and/or baby carrier.
I also made many many many burping pads from flannel…….12″ wide x width of flannel. I just stitched on all sides, right sides together, and left an opening. Turn it inside out and then I appliqued and/or embroidered on both ends. I always did one baseball bat (regardless of gender) and embroidered the baby’s name on the bat! I also did alot of broderie perse. They always came out great. Oh….btw…..I washed and dried the flannel twice. Just one word of warning….it does lint up your machine. I always sewed alot of them and then took my machine in for cleaning. However, with your talented family, I’m guessing you would all know how to open up your machine and clean it. I’m not quite that clever:-)
    Congrats to all of you!
