It's fascinating, don't you think? I wonder of the average person, back when this door was new, had any idea of what it depicted. (I've had a lot of art history and should know the answer to that, but I don't.)
I also wonder if the shiny brass doorknob is original equipment? It looks out of place.

The heads on the door look like a popes’ head covering. The body below looks like someone being sent to the crypts (see the tiny bones) The top part looks like heaven and a body wrapped heading there. WOW, this is an amazing door. Does anyone know the story on this? It would be fascinating to find out.
