I forgot about Martha!

I've let magazines pile up but finally had time to flip through my Martha Stewart Living issues in the car on Saturday (Steve was driving). Of course there was Photoshopping involved but Martha looks pretty good! I wonder if it's a shock to see her in person?

I think that's really her in the photo below – not her head photoshopped onto a model. I think it's all Martha is because of the looks on the faces of the two girls closest to her.

The grin looks a bit strained, don't you think? That could be because they'd been at it a while; kids do get tired of smiling. (See, I'm trying to cut Martha some slack!)

Do you think they have a fan blowing on her (above) to make her hair look so casually brushed back? And I wonder if the paint on the brush is wet or dry? If I had that much wet paint on a brush it wouldn't take long for me to have paint on me, the table, etc. – but then I'm not Martha.

It's possible that that's only Martha's head on a model's body, but if so, they matched up the parts well. This ad actually worked on me – I would like to buy 1 or more of those glass domes. I'm leaving for Granbury soon. Maybe I'll drive near a Macy's!

  1. So, are you a Martha fan, or not? Sometimes its hard to tell. I laughed at your comment about the strained smile….My husband smiles like that in every picture!!!

  2. Martha does defy the laws of nature…. such fun… if you are driving to Granbury you will be driving by at least 9 Macy’s and if you take a different route back…. 9 more! My credit card would be crumbs if I took a Macy’s trip…. have fun.

  3. I very much enjoy Marthas magazines and I applaud the empire she has built. Do I think I would like her personally? Not sure at all about that – but I think I could learn a lot from her even if she was not my bff.
I enjoy spotting these ads because every now and then Martha is not particularly well-dressed, shes always very air-brushed (surely she has more wrinkles by now!), and sometimes it looks as if her head is not on her own body. With all her attention to detail, I wonder how that happens.
This is a longish answer to the question, isnt it? I guess when its all said and done, I am more pro-Martha than not.

  4. I’m pretty sure all of the above is Martha.
I live in Dutchess county New York , about a 90 minute train ride to NYC where she tapes her show. My friends and I have gone a few times over the years and I have sat next to her at a gardening event luncheon and I can say she does look that
Classy in person. She’s extremely organized and neat and only has the best working for her, so of course she always looks great.
Martha is more personable than people expect.
    Kudos to her.

  5. Thats all nice to know! Ill bet she smells nice, too :-). Dont know why I thought of that – maybe it is how clean and crisp she looks in these photos. If nothing else, she should smell like very good soap.

  6. Maybe the ad doesn’t move me to run out to Macy’s, but I will take a slice of whatever you bake to put under that beautiful dome!! BTW her hair is gorgeous! Looks like little angels came down and spun gold in her hair!! Wish I had a colorist that could do that:)
