Wednesday Giveaway

Alison, this week’s lucky winner, will receive a Sewline glue pen. I use this glue pen (and/or the Quilter’s Select glue pen) to baste the seam allowances to the paper in English paper piecing. Use a light hand with the glue; it doesn’t take much.

Run the glue along the edge of the paper, not the fabric. Fold the fabric over the edge of the paper and onto the glued area. The glue comes in blue, pink, or yellow but it dries clear. Once dry, it holds the fabric securely but it also releases with little effort. Click here for a how-to video.

Tip: Don’t press until you’ve removed the EPP papers. Pressing can make the fabric harder to peel free.

I’ll be back next Wednesday with another Giveaway. Happy stitching!

  1. I learned the hard way with a glue pen by ironing the fabric while the paper hexie was still on!! Also too much glue on the paper/fabric!!! Some of my fabric is frayed on the back, sometimes messy looking!! No longer press until paper is removed! Great tip for putting glue on the edge.

  2. Thanks so much for offering these brilliant glue pens as the giveaway. Glue saves so much time and pin pricks are a distant memory.

  3. I would love to try this glue pen! I have a GFG quilt in progress, and this looks so much faster than hand basting those 1” hexies!

  4. I would love to try the Sewline glue pen. I could use it when traveling across the country with paper piecing projects.

  5. Oh wow, hate doing it with thread basting and I have in my early days resorted to tape(ew), mini binder clips get in the way…this looks like a treat!
