Wednesday Giveaway

Theresa Duval is this week’s winner and she will receive 4 spools of Wonderfil #8 Perle cotton in these lovely neutral colors. I use this thread for big stitch hand quilting and for some embroidery. It is a little softer than other #8 Perle cottons which makes it easier to pull through the layers when hand quilting. And it is thick enough to make bold stitches.

If you are not Theresa and you would like to shop this thread, click here or on the image below.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

  1. I have completed all applique for “Aunt Millie’s Flower Garden” and am going to hand quilt with big stitches using perle cotton. Can’t wait to try this thread!

  2. I am curious about your comment that you use Wonderfil perle cotton for “some embroidery” – are there caveats or exceptions to this? I am just beginning to do more embroidery and would like more information about this product – is it better? worse? just different from other perle cottons?

    • I would use this when I need a thicker thread for embroidery and, for me, that isn’t very often. This is not a ‘divisible’ thread like floss… you can’t make it less thick than it is.

  5. I love Big Stitch and do it a lot, always using perle cotton. It’s one of my very favorite pleasures when hand sewing.

  6. I’ve not used this thread before but it sounds nice, especially if it’s easier to pull the thread through.

  7. Looks like a fantastic giveaway to me. I quilt and embroider so that’s a double win. Great info also regarding the textures of this thread over others. I’d love to see an entire “series” comparing all of these types of threads. If one’s been done please let me know. Thanks for offering this terrific giveaway.
