The pencil makes a line that you can see and it brushes off well. The chalk line that you draw around your templates is part of the seam allowance. The line should turn under completely so that you don’t see it.

I love my Generals white chalk pencil. I use the gray,also, on light fabrics, but the white is my favorite and it does come of so well. The sharpener is very good, too. I can always use another pencil and sharpener in my current project, or pass one on to a friend who hasn’t discovered them yet.
