Treats, not tricks :-).

In celebration of the day, how about a give away? I wrote about Kathy Doughty's wonderful new book earlier this month… would you like to win a copy? If so, leave a comment on the blog and on Sunday I'll choose a winner at random. If you leave a comment, be sure tocheck back Sunday afternoon or Monday morning to see if you won. Sometimes there's an email link to you in your comment, and sometimes there isn't. If I don't know where to send the book, you might miss out.

And because it's Halloween and because Steve and I did dress up on Saturday (with friends) to attend a Halloween wine stroll in downtown Sherman, I thought I'd share a photo. The six of us were mad scientists. Steve stuck to type and went as a mad bug scientist. I channeled Marie Curie and was radioactive-ish. I added glow-in-the-dark necklaces and bracelets after this photo. Our group won the adult costume category!

  1. Your original post about this book led me to K. Dought’s web site. WOW!! Some wonderful quilts are being made in Australia. I’d love the chance to spend some time with this book.

  2. So cute! I would love to win that book…I already have most of yours. In fact, I just bought a bunch of upholstery plastic for applique… 🙂 Everyone at the store always wants to know what I’m going to do with it-lol. I’m having a giveaway on my blog right now too.

  3. I am in the UK but follow your blog. I already have Material Obsession two and love it. I would assume this is only open to US citizens but just thought I would say hello anyway

  4. You can tell what you were without giving it away (get the pun) I know I know wry humour. You are wonderful to give us a chance for one of Kathy’s great books. What a treat!

  6. I would really like to win this book. Like many others I am a great admirer of Australian quilts. I would also like to thank you and Steve for your inspiring kitchen renovation project. It has resulted in our getting a sonotube for our new kitchen.

  7. I’d love to win the book. I always read her blog by clicking on the link that you provide. Cute costumes, but the monster bug in the pocket kind of freaks me out. Ha ha.

  8. Thank you for introducing me to Kathy Doughty. I would also love to have a chance to win this book. I looked at her website and fell in love with a new pattern by Sue Cody called sweet surrender. Is it available in the US? I says it is $40AU. Would that be $40 plus shipping from Australia? Thanks- I love your blog as well!

  9. Love your costumes. Did not dress up this year, so I just gave out treats as “the-tired-middle-aged-neighbor-who-just-got-home-from-vacation-and-needed-her-beauty-sleep”. Would love to win the book.

  10. I dont know about Sues pattern, whether she ships to the US or how much it would be in US funds. The best thing to do would be to email Material Obsession to see. This email address ought to be the one to use:info@materialobsession.com.au.
