But the tree is down!
We only broke one ornament. It was pretty, but not special…
We have a great place to store the Christmas ornaments in an area that used to be a built-in desk but now houses our rolling entertainment center…
And the space where the tree was is back to normal!
I’ve been de-cluttering—so much so that I need to find something to put on the table next the sofa. I’m going to look around to see what I already own. I really need to stop shopping :-).
I am curious about how you have your books stacked where the tree was. Are they on some kind of shelf?

The books are stacked on a Sapien book shelf I bought mine at Design Within Reach, but you can probably find it other places. They come in a variety of heights.

It’s a good thing you don’t have earthquakes in TX. 🙂

Tis true… although it is a very stable shelf.

Cool decorations. however I think (in general) we start Christmas too early and then cant wait to get it over with……I try (hardly ever succeeding) not to decorate too early, and leave everything up until at least January 6th. The twelve days of Christmas STARTS on Dec.26th and ends on the feast of the Epiphany (Jan. 6). I guess I’m just a traditionalist. BTW, I love your storage solution.

I suspect that I my urge to take down the decorations shortly after Christmas has to do with early conditioning. My mom always took down the tree on Dec. 26 so it just feels natural to me. I admit that there is a bit of adjustment in going back to normal but right now it feels like getting ready for a new year.
It’s really nice that we can each decorate (and un-decorate) our homes on our own schedule. I would not like being told when to do either.
