Wednesday Giveaway – Bird Month (Week 3)!

Bird Week Giveaway #3 is a songbird scissor charm!

Scissor charms add a touch of whimsy to your scissor and make it easier to identify which one is yours. But that’s only incidental to their real purpose. You can get more detail by clicking here to go to the pertinent page in Pieceocake.com website. But, briefly, attaching a scissor charm to the correct finger grip makes sure that the serrated blade is on top of the fabric and the smooth one is on the bottom. This helps the fabric you’re cutting glide smoothly, not snagging on the serrations.

We have a wide variety of colors and attached “charms” in stock. Reds, blues, purples, greens and yellows. The little metal charms come in the form of sewing machines, buttons, thimbles, scissors, “I Love Quilting” plaques, etc. This week’s lucky winner is Deborah Moyes!

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

  1. Thank you Becky for your weekly newsletter. It’s one that I look forward to and read completely every week. Of course, the Jim-Shots are like a shot of good and much needed medicine for the soul, too. Your giveaways are generous as are your many thoughtful videos. Just wanted to say thank you for all of it.

  2. I’m always impressed with how organized you are! I do like the idea of having sewing supplies and applique supplies stored separately. What about EPP? Where do they go?

    • Funny you should ask! I am reorganzing my studio this week and I just moved my EPP stuff from a drawer to a not-too-big lidded bin.

What I’m finding is that stuff gets put somewhere and never moves! If you work systematically through the whole space, it’s possible that moving things around allows you to put like things together. And it can save space in the long run.

  4. Delightful charm! We have fledgling birds in the yard right now, so the bird charm is right on topic for me. Thanks so much for taking the time to put together your posts—they’re always interesting and the videos so helpful. It brightens my email box.

  5. I don’t have any scissor charms, so I would love to try them on my serrated scissors. By the way, I’m working on Game On and your instructions are excellent! It’s a fun quilt along!
