Passion flowers…

I'm having foot surgery today. Dr. Hayes is going to sand off a bone spur and re-shape my big toe. It is my sincere hope that I'm going to bounce back as quickly as I think I will. So today I'm going to share a lovely new flower from my backyard. I've just put in a passion flower vine and so far it's doing well.

The lady who sold it to us said we'd have passion fruits. We'll see about that.

  1. Hi Becky,
Just a kind word of warning. I planted a passion vine in my yard along a wooden fence because it was supposed to be a beautiful climber. Well, it is beautiful and it is a climber but it is also VERY aggressive and if not trimmed back regularly it will overwhelm and choke out any other plants or flowers it is close too. I our case it reach out tendrils trying to choke out near by hibscus bushes.
Good luck with your surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery.

  2. We grow them down here for the fruit not the flower. The ones we get you only need one to have fruit and they do go nuts but the fruit is worth it, they will usually fruit prolifically for a couple of years then turn up their heels and die.
