Susan Marshall sent this picture of her first attempt at applique after taking my class last year at Common Threads Quilting. Isn’t it great! So bright and pretty!

This is our Lucky Stars pattern, made with some changes to the original pattern. It’s out of print and I really do need to make it available as an ePattern, one of these days.

Is Lucky Stars in one of your books?

No, Lucky Stars was a stand alone pattern. Our original quilt was the IQA raffle quilt some years ago. I really do need to find the time to make it available as a downloadable pattern. It’s on my list!

That is a gorgeous quilt! I am always a little intimidated of the quilts with a lot of handstitched applique. I have made some of your designs, but stitched them on my machine. And I often try to take just one block and make it into something other than a quilt…a pillow or a center in a medallionquilt, or something like that. I am better at smaller applique monsters 🙂
