Margaret Wild is the lucky winner this week! If you are not Margaret, you might want to actually buy your own Corner Cut tool :-). Here’s why: If your 1/4″ seam allowance is too big, or too small, you need a Corner Cut tool! It’s good for many things, not the least of which is checking your seam allowance. Here’s how it works:
And here’s a picture:

I would love to have this tool. It would make my piecing so much better and accurate.

Aren’t you using the “scant” quarter inch measurement? I see the minus sign near the 1/4″.

I’d have to go back and look close and I don’t have time today. It may be the angle of the camera that’s making it look that way.

Me again. I did look and you are correct. I just went over to my machine and checked the true 1/4″ and it lines up exactly with the mark on the throat plate and the edge of the foot, with nothing sticking out beyond the edge of the foot. So the main point for me is to never let fabric stick out beyond the right side of the 1/4″ foot. I think that’s where a whole lot of quilters go astray.

The plague of fashion sewer turned Quilter…the 1/4 seam. I would love the tool because the question is do we sew a scant 1/4 inch to adjust for the thread, sew a true 1/4 inch and let the seam police fly a kite. Thanks Becky for all your help. You are still my hero. V.
