More from the Sagrada Familia

You take an elevator most of the way up and then there are narrow passage ways and stone stairs with the occasional place to stop and look out. Barcelona is beautiful from above!

This is also where you get to see the mosaics and other building details up close.

You walk a stone spiral staircase back to ground level.

You can’t see them, but there were a lot of people up there with us. There was not a lot of time to linger. That made taking this photo more interesting/challenging. Do it too fast and vertigo sets in.

Steve and I hope to go back to visit the Sagrada Familia when it is finished.

  1. I hope to visit when it is finished….. and for my 80th family vacation…. This has been a wonderful eye opening post. My nieces who are Spanish majors have traveled and lived Europe, Central and South America have enjoyed your posts as well…

  2. I remember walking up one of those towers in 1972. It WAS amazing and to think that the construction of this incredibly creative cathedral goes on and on and might never be finished… at least in my lifetime.

  4. Any idea of when the church will be finished? I am with quiltipatti – 99 percent sure I’ll never get to see this in person, but it is wonderful to get such beautiful photos to stare at. It’s beautiful and I think you learned a lot from the photography course you took!

  5. This is a magnificent building, and that it is also a church/basilica is awesome! I got dizzy looking at your spiral staircase photo; I give you a lot of credit taking it at all.
