Wednesday Giveaway

Kitty Bowman is this week’s lucky winner! She will receive a 2-Step Pencil Sharpener and 3 special pencils with firm graphite from my personal stash—all made by Blackwing. I love working with sharp, firm pencils on paper and (lightly) on fabric and Blackwings are the only pencils I use. You can find Blackwing products here at

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at!

  1. These bring back memories of when I started quiltmaking years (and years!) ago, before rotary cutters. I did hand piecing with templates. I still occasionally use templates and hand piecing for tricky bits. I’m thankful for fabric, yarn quilting blogs and cats.

  2. Thanks for this giveaway. I’ve hesitated to purchase the pencils due to the price. But I love a good writing instrument and hope you select me.

  3. This is perfect timing. I am just getting into doodling designs for FMQ and am finding my pencils are not really up to the task! Would love to try these!

  4. We have so much to be thankful for, each and every one of us. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families, and Thank you Becky for all the giveaways you provide all year long. It’s a very generous gesture.

  5. I have always, always wanted to try Blackwings! Right now, I use a mechanical pencil from Japan, which I love, but Blackwings have a certain je ne sais quoi!

  6. the first big quilt that I made was from templates. Yes I traced that triangle over and over and over. Then cut with my scissors, And I sharpened that pencil many times. The quilt was for my 10 year old son. my Grandson now has that quilt.

  7. I do a lot of applique work and would like to try these pencils. The pencils I’ve tried are too hard and do not mark well – so I use pens to mark my patterns.
Thanks for the opportunity to hopefully win these pencils.
