Kathryn Laposata is this week’s winner and she is going to love her new Sew Hot Iron Rest! This silicone iron rest allows you to place your hot iron flat on the surface, eliminating the need to stand your iron up on its end. The Sew Hot Iron Rest can withstand up to 500° F (260° C) but be aware that heat will pass through the iron rest so be sure to place it on a standard ironing surface, not a metal surface. And please don’t leave your hot iron on the rest, walk away, and ignore it.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Just a note here – I have this rest. Works great but I discovered if I have my iron on high steam and I set it down on the rest, I have to quickly pick it back up. I waited, what was only a matter of seconds, and residue from the mat was on the bottom of my iron, which of course I did not realize. Yup, ironed it onto my fabric. I was able to wash it off though. Whew, saved.

Do you know that iron temps vary from iron to iron? And I have never owned one that showed the actual temperature. I wonder if your iron is extra hot?
Does your iron rest on metal or on your ironing surface? Mine sits on the metal shelf at the end of my board but I have an Oliso iron so the hot plate of the iron is not sitting directly on the iron rest.
The thing to always remember is that irons can cause fires and we need to be careful with them.

I would love to win this. I got spoiled with my Oliso iron and those little pop up feet, but the heating element finally died and I am now using my “gasp” household iron, (Who irons shirts anyway is what I told the hubby), while I window shop for a new iron in the studio. I find myself forgetting to “stand the iron up”, so this would be very handy. Mary / https://stitchinggrandma.wordpress.com//
