Teri Weed sent me this lovely story:
A few years ago, when I expressed a desire to make Stars in the Garden, my friend Dot Murdoch gave me 8 blocks that she had appliqued when the pattern was first published, along with all the materials to finish it, because she wasn’t going to. I did, and the attached photo is the finished quilt. She is an amazing appliquer, and I am privileged to be able to finish something she started.
Today is Dot’s birthday—Happy birthday to you! Thank you both for sharing the lovely quilt that you and Teri made together.

Stars in the Garden is still available as a digital pattern, click here or on the photo.
Gorgeous quilt! Shows how 2 good quilters can work together to
create a masterpiece!

Thank You Becky for featuring our quilt on your blog today…..My friend Terri is also an amazing stitcher, her work is impeccable….I started the blocks as shop samples for a BOM the shop was running at the time….it was fun to work on them and a challenge to get them done in time so they were ready to display each month….Then the shop closed and I kinda lost interest, you know how that goes, and they sat….Years later when Terri said she was looking for a copy of your book, as she wanted to make the quilt, I offered them to her, as well as all the materials, which I still had…As you can see, she did a wonderful job to finish it and is now enjoying it….it was a win, win situation all around….I’m so glad to be part of this sisterhood quilters….Dot M. Becky, Are these your designs? A friend gifted me with wrapping paper with these designs and I fell in love. I drew the pattern the size I wanted and showed it to a friend. She thought they might be yours. If so, I would love to use them and will give you credit. Lois D. Griffith

Hi Lois:
Yes, Stars in the Garden is a quilt I designed and made and Linda and I are the authors of the book. It was first published by That Patchwork Place. Then it was a pattern printed by C&T. Now it is available on my site as a digital pattern. Thanks for asking!

I love this pattern.
Seen it first time this month at the Dallas Quilt Show. I don’t think it was this person’s quilt. I kept going to it every time to view it. And learned it was your pattern, Becky Goldsmith.

I didn’t realize that there was a Stars in the Garden at the recent Dallas show. I’ll bet it was lovely :-). The book was first published in the late 1990s/early 2000s so there are many iterations of it out in the world. That makes me very happy!

I followed Becky and Linda from the late 1990s and collected all their books and patterns. I love their passion for color, design, and it was new back then. I love this book, I have yet to make it. A great example on their color scheme, and designing brilliance.
