Show and tell…

Liz Poitras sent in these photos of the Magical Unicorn quilt that she made for her granddaughter. Isn’t it wonderful, magical, and perfect for a little girl’s bed! Liz, well done you!

From Liz:

Since March, I’ve been working on Magical Thinking for my granddaughter. I just have to finish the binding.  I had it custom quilted by Krista Zaleski. She did a fabulous job so I wanted to share it with you. Most of the fabric is Allison Glass. The eyelashes and little white spot in the eye were challenging. I finally decided to embroider those two pieces.

I also included a picture of the back of the quilt. My granddaughter also wanted hearts on up her quilt so I decided to make a rainbow of hearts on the backing made with the  4 different fabrics for each colour. Thanks for your help and support this Spring.
Liz

Thank you, Liz, for taking the time to share the photos and story of your quilt. I know it must put a big grin on your face when you image your granddaughter dreaming beneath it :-).

Here’s a link to the pattern for anyone who might want to make a Magical Unicorn too.

Wednesday Giveaway

Congrats to Valerie, this week’s winner, who will receive a package of Capri Cream artisanal tea along with a refrigerator magnet from Moda that says ‘Sewing Mends the Soul’ (which is true).

If you are like me, the name Capri Cream does not exactly sound tea-ish but it is, in fact, very tasty with a surprisingly creamy flavor. You can find this and other teas here.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Show and tell…

Ellen Harris from Huntsville, AL sent me this photo of her finished Aunt Millie’s Garden. She saw a post on Pinterest that inspired the aqua fabric for the background. Oange and blue are complementary colors and together they make a great foundation of color to support the other colors in the quilt.

The back has a hand embroidery piece appliqued on that says: “May I a small house and a large garden have.”

Well done, Ellen! And thank you for sharing your lovely quilt with us!

Wednesday Giveaway

Jimi/TheGranChris is this week’s winner and will receive a pack of Black Gold Applique Needles in assorted sizes and a package of Thimble-It Finger Protectors. These needles are extra-sharp which does help you get a very pretty stitch. And the Thimble-It is handy to have in case your fingertips get sore or to help you grab the needle.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Take My Bullseye Class on Creative Spark!

My online Bullseye class covers foundation paper piecing and curved piecing, specifically set-in circles, as you sew a 20″ x 20″ block. This block looks complicated but it is easier than it looks—especially when I walk you through each step!

The online class is available to take NOW. You get to work in your own space, with all of your fabric and supplies nearby. It’s the best way to take a class! There is a discussion option in each lesson so that you can email questions to me and I will answer in a timely fashion. The ebook is included in the class.

But wait! There’s a LIVE Class Option!!!

I am happy to offer the combination of my online Bullseye class together with a 6-hour real-time meeting on Zoom! We get to be together and you don’t have to pack up your sewing machine and supplies and work in a classroom. You are still in your own space, working without distractions.

The 6-hour Live Class begins at 12noon EST, 11:00 CST, 9:00 PST.

We will begin class together on Zoom with a visit and I will share important information to help you enjoy a great day of sewing. You will watch the video lessons and sew at your own pace outside of the Zoom meeting. We will come back together on Zoom at prearranged times during class to visit, ask questions, and share ideas.

Additionally, you can call or text me at any time during class between Zoom meetings and I will be there to answer your questions in real time.

And lastly, there’s one more thing about taking the Live class… it keeps you from procrastinating. Please do join me on November 21 and lets make a Bullseye!
