Wednesday Giveaway

Kitty Bowman is this week’s lucky winner! She will receive a 2-Step Pencil Sharpener and 3 special pencils with firm graphite from my personal stash—all made by Blackwing. I love working with sharp, firm pencils on paper and (lightly) on fabric and Blackwings are the only pencils I use. You can find Blackwing products here at pieceocake.com.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Show and tell… Bullseye and Sizzle

Debbie Poole has been busy! When I opened her email I actually said ‘Wow!’ out loud! This is her Bullseye quilt… It gets your attention, doesn’t it?!

The color combination is thoughtful and interesting. And I love the way the colors jump off of the light white/cream fabric spread throughout. Very cool. You can find the pattern here: https://pieceocake.com/collections/books-dvds/products/32796030

I do teach an online Bullseye class. If you are interested, click here.

Debbie also sent this photo of her finished Sizzle quilt. It is similar to but different from the colors I used in my version of the quilt. I really like the way the lime green pops in this quilt. You can find the book here: https://pieceocake.com/collections/books-dvds/products/sizzle

There are free how-to videos that go with the Sizzle book. You can find them soon with my classes on Creative Spark. Until then, you can find them on YouTube. Go to YouTube, search for C&T Publishing to find their channel. Once there, type in Sizzle in the search box.

Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your lovely quilts with us! Well done, you!

Show and tell from my Tile Tango Class

Gwyn Jalbert took my online Tile Tango class with the Palmetto Quilt Guild. Interestingly, Gwyn lives in Kitchener, Ontario but her guild is in South Carolina. The internet makes long distance classes so easy!

She finished 4 flowers to make the complete block below. She did a lovely job on the appliqué and I love the fall colors she chose! Thank you, Gwyn, for sharing your block with us!

Gwyn said… “I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the class I took with you on Oct. 16 with the Palmetto Quilt Guild. Here is the block I have completed  I am working on the next one and I will probably do the Tile Tango quilt. I am really enjoying the needle turn applique and I see my stitches and technique getting better with the practice.
Thanks again.”

Online classes are truly wonderful and I am personally very proud of the ones I have put together. Whether you are with a guild or not, you can find my online classes at Creative Spark. I will new classes as time goes by. Here’s the link to my classes: https://creativespark.ctpub.com/pages/Becky_Goldsmith

All of the classes on Creative Spark are priced to provide a fair income to the teachers. About half of the money goes to the support the people doing the behind-the-scenes work at Creative Spark, the other half goes to the instructor.

You may not think about it often, but free or practically free content does not support the teacher. At some point, we all need to make a living. Most of my income comes from teaching. Income from the products I sell on my website goes to Lorna and Judy, who work for me.

We all choose where to spend our dollars… I’m sharing this information to give you information that you may not know. Happy stitching!

Wednesday Giveaway

Caroline Doyle is this week’s winner. She will receive a pack of applique pins from Little House. These 3/4″ fine pins have a small glass head. they are a little bit flexible but not bendy which helps them to lay flatter against your applique. I like them!

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Show and tell…

Liz Poitras sent in these photos of the Magical Unicorn quilt that she made for her granddaughter. Isn’t it wonderful, magical, and perfect for a little girl’s bed! Liz, well done you!

From Liz:

Since March, I’ve been working on Magical Thinking for my granddaughter. I just have to finish the binding.  I had it custom quilted by Krista Zaleski. She did a fabulous job so I wanted to share it with you. Most of the fabric is Allison Glass. The eyelashes and little white spot in the eye were challenging. I finally decided to embroider those two pieces.

I also included a picture of the back of the quilt. My granddaughter also wanted hearts on up her quilt so I decided to make a rainbow of hearts on the backing made with the  4 different fabrics for each colour. Thanks for your help and support this Spring.
Liz

Thank you, Liz, for taking the time to share the photos and story of your quilt. I know it must put a big grin on your face when you image your granddaughter dreaming beneath it :-).

Here’s a link to the pattern for anyone who might want to make a Magical Unicorn too.
