What can you learn from these wedding photos?

Christopher, our oldest son, looking very handsome, was calm and collected throughout the entire event. He always is. This picture captures that. It wasn't staged or posed, it was a moment captured.

Things I Learned #1 – In my opinion, captured moments are better than posed moments 99% of the time.

Corollary to Things I Learned #1 – Some posed moments are good! Chris and Lorna managed to find time to enjoy the evening when they weren't chasing our grandchildren…

I somehow managed to miss seeing Jack on the dance floor. I hear he was a perpetual motion machine!

Things I Learned #2 – If you don't have a good camera, you can't capture moments like this. I know that I need a new flash attachment to make my very fine Nikon D90 even better.

Things I Learned #3 – Don't be afraid to crop.

Heads up!

Nope, the sky isn't falling. I just wanted to let you know that we've added some new things to our website and that I'll be sending an eNewsflash soon. You'll notice that this newsletter is prettier than our regular eNewsletter and we hope you like it.

One of the "new things" on the site is a group of pages with quilts are offering for sale. Our closets are full and can hold no more. There are quilts in all price ranges. I've sorted the quilts into 3 categories:

  • Becky & Linda Quilts for Sale – These are going to be the ones that we made, either together or separately. They will be at the higher end of the prices.
  • Class & Sample Quilts for Sale – Quilts we made or that we had made to promote fabric collections or for class promotion. Some were used in trunk shows so you may have seen them before.
  • Pieced Quilts for Sale – These are some of the quilts from our Piecing book.

I'll be adding more quilts for sale as we have time to take the photos and get them uploaded.

Click around the site and you'll find new notions and a cute Heather Bailey pincushion pattern!

Cuteness…

Cuteness

I haven’t see it in color but I think it may look best this way, in black and white, in the same way that the portraits at Urban Weeds are more striking in b/w. Steve, however, looks great in color – and I think he’s pretty cute too!

I’m going to be on The Quilt Show!

I just got home from taping an episode of The Quilt Show! It was so much fun to see Alex and Ricky and to be their guest. Linda was busy at home so she asked me to go for both of us – although when I talked to her afterward she was a little bit sorry to have missed the fun!

TQS-01

I visited with these ladies as they were waiting to come into the studio at Daylight Productions in Boulder, CO. The studio audience was cheerful and enthusiastic. I was happy to have them there!

TQS-02

My quilts were carefully hung on the walls of the set. You can see a few of the many cameras they use during filming. When the lights come up, everything comes alive (and it gets warmer in seconds!).

TQS-03

You can see Ricky warming up his ukulele and Alex preparing a demo in back with Angel, whose title is producer (I think). Angel keeps everyone on track. I need her standing behind me when I'm working 🙂 to keep me on track.

TQS-04

Jason is in charge of the audience and he is amazing! Funny and caring, he makes sure everyone is happy. I took photos before my part of the day began. You'll be able to see what I did when my segment goes live and I'll let you know when that is when I know.

Hidden treasures…

Do you go antiquing or garage sale-ing? A few years ago I found a landscape at an antique shop for cheap. I took it to the Frame Team here in Sherman. Amazing! The right frame frame on a marginal painting can have spectacular results! Kim and Neva liked that painting so much that they decided to carefully choose a
stock of "outsider art" canvases (often from Goodwill) for their shop. The art is free with the purchase of a frame.

I found this barn painting in the Frame Team bin:

Now it's hanging in our bedroom. I hope Mr. or Ms. Stickley (the artist) is smiling somewhere!
