Lorna meant to order two complete Golden Slumbers Hand Embroidery Kits but instead ordered just the Iron-on pattern. So Sharon Palmer & “Flyawayjil” are receiving the Iron-on pattern for Golden Slumbers. Iron the design onto your own fabric and choose your own thread colors to make this truly your project. Judy thinks this would be a perfect block in a baby quilt. Maybe that will spark more ideas! Join 12 expert quilting instructors (I’m not in this event but will be in one in the future) for a vibrant multi-class event on the most powerful (and intimidating) tool in the quilter’s toolkit: color. 

One of the most interesting things I’ve found is that no matter how much you know about color, you can always learn more. This is a great opportunity to hear what 12 experienced teachers have to offer on the subject.

Starting with a keynote with color master, designer, and author, Jean Wells, you’ll explore simple color vocabulary, actionable techniques, and begin to assess your own journey as an artist.

Then you’ll have access to join twelve 40-minute workshops to learn color theory, the history of color in art, creating custom color palettes, stash-busting piecing tips, explore ombré quilt designs, master designing with prints, and more. The instructors’ approaches to color simplifies all things color into mindful practices that you can apply right away.

The live event is Thursday, March 30th at 9 am (Pacific Time)

I thought I would share my quilt with you.  I started it over 10 years ago in Virginia. My granddaughters would visit from Colorado every summer for several months. After work I would pick them up from the child minder and take them to the community pool. (Micky’s pool, as they called it). He was a friend who offered us free access to his community pool, his children had grown and no longer used it and he still had to pay for it as part of his homeowner’s dues.

I would bring my Stars in the Garden blocks with me to hand applique, after watching your videos, I found a sense of peace of mind and a soothing experience. 

I started to quilt it  3 months ago and hated what I did, so spent hours with my ‘quicker picker, back sewer’ taking it all out. Decided on 1 inch blocks around the applique and I had a little help!

His name is Gloomy!  I enjoy your Jim shots and thought you would enjoy mine.

Thank you Marian for sharing your beautiful quilt—and Gloomy!—with us. I am certain that I’m not the only one with a grin on my face :-). Your quilt is cheerful and beautifully made. Well done, you! And lovely that you have such nice memories woven into it. I’ll bet it is great to sleep under.

This week’s winner, Debra Reber, will receive the easiest way I know of to clean your iron’s surface! IRON CLEAN removes fusibles, facings, and many more sticky residues. Just wipe your hot iron over the cleaning cloth with a paper towel or rag underneath. The more you wipe the more you remove. You get 10 reusable sheets per package.

Everybody loves a great tool and we have one for this week’s winner – Dritz Seam Fix Tool! It’s equipped with both a seam ripper and a stiletto. Use the ridged silicone end for grabbing and brushing away snipped threads. The stiletto is handy for moving fabric under the presser foot as you sew and/or for poking holes as needed.
