Show and tell…

Jackie Liles and Diana Dodds just finished this fantastic quilt made from our Whimsical Quilt Garden pattern. They named their quilt My Nocturnal Garden. Don’t the colors shine!

I love seeing quilts made from our patterns. It is so very nice to see how quilters make the designs their own. This lovely quilt was made by Laurie LaFountain from our Whimsical Quilt Garden pattern.

Laurie shared the following about her quilt:

I thought I would share a picture of my quilt that I recently entered in my local quilt guild’s show. I had never put a quilt in a show before, but my 9 year old grandson urged me to enter this. I admit I had to rush the quilting portion to get it finished in time, and the judge fairly noted that I omitted quilting the sashing and my binding could have been neater. But I won the only ribbon awarded by the National Quilters Assoc., I was awarded a blue ribbon by the judge, I won the vendors choice ribbon and the viewers choice ribbon. I was shocked and thrilled. I will treasure this quilt and the ribbons forever. And my grandson will inherit the quilt.

Laurie, you made a wonderful quilt and I’m so happy that you entered it in the show! Your grandson sounds like a very smart young man :-). May you have many more happy stitches!

Jan Hirth finished her Honey Beez quilt. Isn’t it happy! I love this pattern… it is simple and complex at the same time. And while I’m not going to make a 2nd one, I think it would be great fun enlarged (maybe a lot) and made into a bed quilt!

Thank you, Jan, for sharing the finished photos!

Did you notice the large red circle in the top outer ring? That’s a nice touch, Jan.

Sara sent her version of my Tree O’ Life quilt. She says:

I started this in 2012, finished it but forgot to send you a picture. I had “Live well” but changed it to “Love God”. There were a few things I messed up on, but went ahead and just went for it!  I figured you and the other people who buy your book would be the only ones to notice.
After Christmas I’ll hang it back up.  It has a place of honor in my home.
Thanks for your lessons in the gray shades of gold for the background.
Sincerely,
Sara

I actually don’t mind one little bit when a quilter changes one of our patterns and makes it her (or his) own. That’s part of the fun of quilting! Congrats to Sara for doing just that and for finishing her wonderful quilt!

I have received photos of 3 very different quilts made from Piece O’ Cake patterns recently. I think you all will enjoy seeing them!

The first quilt is Magen’s Flower Garden made by Nadia M., in her own colors. It’s so pretty and I love the way she coordinated the colors between her hex-flowers and the central fabric.

Linda S. wrote to say that she just finished making Welcome To The North Pole for a friend. She says that this quilt was so much fun and she knows the recipient and her friend will enjoy it for years to come. I would add that everyone who sees it will enjoy it!

Mannette A. made the next quilt. It’s not from a Piece O’ Cake pattern but she said:

I’m including a pic of my finished quilt that is my first appliqué project. This quilt is hand pieced, appliquéd, and quilted. I would NEVER have attempted the appliqué if it weren’t for your tutorials and advice (not to mention supplies)
Thank you so very much!

Didn’t she do a great job! And, even though I don’t make them often, I’ve gotta say that I do love to see a quilt made solely from neutrals.

Thank you each for sharing your quilts with us!
