I am a quilt designer/teacher/author, a wife/mother/grandmother, and certified yoga instructor who is searching for balance, strength, and happiness in all things.
If you missed it, here is this week’s Time Out where I explain how scissors work (there’s more to it than you might think) and when to clip seam allowances—and when not to. Enjoy!
Maureen Moore Scheevel finished her Bullseye quilt top. She was in my virtual class with her guild, the Austin Area Quilters Guild. Here’s Maureen’s pieced top with all 7 rings. Isn’t it amazing!!!!
I especially love the yellow woven through the quilt… bright in the center, calmer, that a little higher intensity. It adds life and movement to the whole quilt. Maureen, you made a winner! Well done and thank you for sharing your quilt with us!
Kathryn Laposata is this week’s winner and she is going to love her new Sew Hot Iron Rest! This silicone iron rest allows you to place your hot iron flat on the surface, eliminating the need to stand your iron up on its end. The Sew Hot Iron Rest can withstand up to 500° F (260° C) but be aware that heat will pass through the iron rest so be sure to place it on a standard ironing surface, not a metal surface. And please don’t leave your hot iron on the rest, walk away, and ignore it.
I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!
Your scissors really will be more ‘charming’ when they are wearing one of these cute charms! And (bonus!) I show you how to attach the Scissor Charms so that you pick up serrated scissors for smoother cutting every time.
Once you see how it works, you will want at least one of the these dandy 2-Step Sharpeners. I have three because they are like reading glasses. You who have reading glasses in every room know what I mean 😂.
Marcy is this week’s winner and she will receive a 6″ x 6″ Magic Mirror. If you are not Mercy, click here to shop for your very own Magic Mirror.
The Magic Mirror is made from two 6″ x 6″ plexiglass mirrors, joined together on one side. Place the mirror on different motifs on printed fabric to see what your block can look like with motif repeated. It is easy to use and has complete instructions. The video shows you how it works!
