Wednesday Giveaway – Another Great Tool!

We sell several varieties of needle threaders. You can check them out by clicking here. But sometimes having a self-threading needle is just the answer you need.

The Bohin Self Threading needle has an opening on top to pop the thread through. Little interlocking ‘teeth’ hold the thread in the eye of the needle. They are perfect for many sewing situations—I use them for burying tails of thread when I machine quilt and so will this week’s winner – Rebecca Myers!

Self-threading needles are a little thicker than other sewing needles to accommodate the wideness at the eye of the needle.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Steve’s Birds – Show and tell…

I met Gini Frederick in Sun City Festival when I visited Linda a month or so ago. She shared her unfinished Steve’s Birds blocks and has since put the top together. I like the setting, which is different from mine, and the addition of the flying geese blocks. Well done, Gini!

I loved making this quilt. It was so much fun and so rewarding. I did not do needle turn, but instead fusible applique. You might recall one of my quilting buddies, Jami Smith, already shared her quilt with you. We both had fun sharing and comparing our blocks.

Thanks again for sharing Steve’s birds!

Thank you, Gini, for sharing your quilt with us and I’m glad that you enjoyed making it! May you have many more happy stitches :-).

FYI: you can find the Steve’s Birds patterns here.

Wednesday Giveaway!

How about a Multi Tool that includes an LED light, 3 hex keys (3, 4 & 5mm), and a Phillips head screwdriver! Everyone (including this week’s winner – Beth H) can use one of these!

Wednesday Giveaway – Cleaning Tools goes to freelyinsightful16fb9909c4!

I love this brush set from It’s Sew Emma and I know this week’s winner will too! It has two little brushes, one flat and one angled, which ensures you can clean lint from every nook, cranny, crevice, and surface of your sewing machine. It also has a microfiber cleaning cloth that wipes without scratching or scraping. Oh happy day!

Show and Tell… the Eiffel Tower!

Karen Gray sent me this photo of the quilt she made last year in my Independent Study class at Empty Spools. She took my online Photo to Fabric class, got her pattern ready, and used our time at Empty Spools to choose fabric and begin hand sewing the pieces together.

Karen, you did a great job of focusing on the structure of the tower and of creating a design with depth. Well done and thank you for sharing!

Wednesday Giveaway!

This week we are giving our winner, Susan Horton, inspiration in the form of an Art Print by Gingiber (one of four types we carry in our store). This is a ready-to-frame 8×10 print on heavy archival paper. Enjoy! (Click here to see all the four prints, as well as Gingiber tea towels, stickers, pouches, and notebooks.)
