HenrikeAdam

Isnt’ this lovely! Henrike Adam, from Berlin, made this quilt. Here is what she had to say:

I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful books, ideas and patterns. They’re all
a great inspiration for me and now that I finished my version of “Aunt Millies Garden”. A very good friend of mine (not a quilter herself) made following comment:
“It looks as being fourteen, first time in love and drawing tiny littles hearts on everything in your handwriting”.

It does look like young love! Thank you, Henrike, for sharing it with us.

Ilsabe emailed this photo of her quilt. She says:

I had one of your books for years and finally just finished a quilt based off of one of the quilts.  I hand quilted it.  So I thought I would send a picture of how it turned out.  I love your color choices in the original but wound up in a different direction.

I am always happy to see how other quilters use our patterns. Ilsabe, you did a great jpb!

FYI: In case you are wondering, this pattern is from our book, Applique Outside the Lines. The quilt in question is Peppermint Sparkle.

Lisa Jenni sent this photo of her quilt, made from a Piece O’ Cake pattern, Garden Blooms.

She says:

Many years ago, you taught an appliqué class at Block Party Quilters in Issaquah. I was one of your students, and still to this day, I’m one of only two persons who finished their appliqué and the resulting quilt. In the attachment you see my quilt “Botanica”.
I hope you like my version of your flowers (I do!), in a totally unusual setting. The background fabric is a hand-dyed from Judy Robertson. All orange veins and leaves are pieced varieties of silks. My quilting is split into hawaiian-style hand-quilting at the yellow flower’s background, and lots of machine quilting for everything else.

The quilt has traveled to two quilt shows. It placed 1st in “Quilts from a Pattern” and an Award of Excellence in “Domestic Machine Quilting” at the La Conner Quilt & Textile Festival (2014). In January 2015, the quilt was awarded 3rd place in “Innovative Wall Appliqué” at Road to California.

Way to go, Lisa!

I received this lovely photo on January 24…

Carolyn says that she started this quilt in 1998, finished it that day. She has made a lovely version of the Simply Delicious pattern. Very nicely done, indeed!

Sara sent her version of my Tree O’ Life quilt. She says:

I started this in 2012, finished it but forgot to send you a picture. I had “Live well” but changed it to “Love God”. There were a few things I messed up on, but went ahead and just went for it!  I figured you and the other people who buy your book would be the only ones to notice.
After Christmas I’ll hang it back up.  It has a place of honor in my home.
Thanks for your lessons in the gray shades of gold for the background.
Sincerely,
Sara

I actually don’t mind one little bit when a quilter changes one of our patterns and makes it her (or his) own. That’s part of the fun of quilting! Congrats to Sara for doing just that and for finishing her wonderful quilt!

Jean Temme sent me this photo of her newly finished Christmas quilt. She took elements from two of our Christmas books and mashed them up into this very cute quilt. Way to go, Jean! I love it!

FYI: the Santa, sled, reindeer and stars are from Welcome To The North Pole. The rest of the quilt is from Quilt A New Christmas, which is out of print. I still have some copies in stock so if you want this book, don’t wait too long.
