JanHirth-HoneyBeez

Jan Hirth sent me a picture of her Fitbit in front of her quilt-in-progress, Honey Beez! I can’t wait to see the finished quilt. Love the gray behind those splashy Kaffes.

And, I must add that I’ll wear my sister’s watch on my arm, with the Fitbit, just like Jan is here. Not all the time, but often. Nice to know that that’s a thing people do :-).

Thanks for sharing, Jan!

I received a new show and tell email that I get to share with you.

Janet Elia says:

I am tickled pink… or rather Red!! and want to Thank you for creating a wonderful pattern that so many have enjoyed making! Love the all-blue quilt you posted last week – that’s a stunner!

Thank you and keep creating beautiful patterns!

Jan McPike from Brisbane, Australia, sent me this photo of her beautiful quilt. She says:

I have always loved the Piece O’ Cake designs, so when my quilt guild announced a blue & white challenge for this year’s quilt show I thought I would take part.  I have made a blue & white version of Aunt Millie’s Garden. It is done in the quilt-as-you-go method and machine quilted by me.

It takes discipline to work in only one color but aren’t the results specatcular! Very nicely done, Jan. Thank you for sharing your quilt with us!

HenrikeAdam

Isnt’ this lovely! Henrike Adam, from Berlin, made this quilt. Here is what she had to say:

I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful books, ideas and patterns. They’re all
a great inspiration for me and now that I finished my version of “Aunt Millies Garden”. A very good friend of mine (not a quilter herself) made following comment:
“It looks as being fourteen, first time in love and drawing tiny littles hearts on everything in your handwriting”.

It does look like young love! Thank you, Henrike, for sharing it with us.

Ilsabe emailed this photo of her quilt. She says:

I had one of your books for years and finally just finished a quilt based off of one of the quilts.  I hand quilted it.  So I thought I would send a picture of how it turned out.  I love your color choices in the original but wound up in a different direction.

I am always happy to see how other quilters use our patterns. Ilsabe, you did a great jpb!

FYI: In case you are wondering, this pattern is from our book, Applique Outside the Lines. The quilt in question is Peppermint Sparkle.

Lisa Jenni sent this photo of her quilt, made from a Piece O’ Cake pattern, Garden Blooms.

She says:

Many years ago, you taught an appliqué class at Block Party Quilters in Issaquah. I was one of your students, and still to this day, I’m one of only two persons who finished their appliqué and the resulting quilt. In the attachment you see my quilt “Botanica”.
I hope you like my version of your flowers (I do!), in a totally unusual setting. The background fabric is a hand-dyed from Judy Robertson. All orange veins and leaves are pieced varieties of silks. My quilting is split into hawaiian-style hand-quilting at the yellow flower’s background, and lots of machine quilting for everything else.

The quilt has traveled to two quilt shows. It placed 1st in “Quilts from a Pattern” and an Award of Excellence in “Domestic Machine Quilting” at the La Conner Quilt & Textile Festival (2014). In January 2015, the quilt was awarded 3rd place in “Innovative Wall Appliqué” at Road to California.

Way to go, Lisa!
