Wednesday Giveaway!

In keeping with our Christmas in July theme, I’m giving away Christmas themed items this month. Starting with a box full of 15mm Snowflake sequins! If you decide to make your Buttonwood Village a Christmas scene, this will definitely help take it there. Plus you get a great little reusable tin box with a window in the lid so you can see what’s inside. Bonus!

Leave a comment/reply on this blog post to enter the drawing. (To leave a comment, click the icon that looks like a ‘thought bubble’ at the top, right, of the post.) A winner will be chosen by the random number generator tomorrow.

Currently we can only ship to winners in the domestic US. If you leave a comment and are chosen, but live outside of this area, we will have to choose a different winner.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Show & Tell… Wool Pincushion in a Baby Cup!

Rebecca Wolf wrote a few days ago to share this happiness…

Hi Piece O’ Cake! I viewed the video on making pincushions out of any type of vessel with rolled wool….I didn’t know one video would send me searching through the house for pin cushion containers, but it did. Found this sterling baby cup that was my mother in laws, so circa 1924. I polished it up and what a delight to make this pincushion. It is fitting since my mother-in-law was an amazing quilter. I think she would approve. ❤️❤️❤️

I’m sure she would love this!!! Thank you for sharing it with all of us :-). If you missed it, here’s a video about rolling felted wool into pin cushions:

Wednesday Giveaway – Bird Month (Week 3)!

Bird Week Giveaway #3 is a songbird scissor charm!

Scissor charms add a touch of whimsy to your scissor and make it easier to identify which one is yours. But that’s only incidental to their real purpose. You can get more detail by clicking here to go to the pertinent page in Pieceocake.com website. But, briefly, attaching a scissor charm to the correct finger grip makes sure that the serrated blade is on top of the fabric and the smooth one is on the bottom. This helps the fabric you’re cutting glide smoothly, not snagging on the serrations.

We have a wide variety of colors and attached “charms” in stock. Reds, blues, purples, greens and yellows. The little metal charms come in the form of sewing machines, buttons, thimbles, scissors, “I Love Quilting” plaques, etc. This week’s lucky winner is Deborah Moyes!

Wednesday Giveaway – Bird Month (Week 2) goes to cathyquilt0720c37819!

This week’s giveaway is a Paper Bird Kit from Assembli in the Netherlands. Included is everything you need to create this beautiful Colibri bird, as well as two options for displaying it. Since you don’t need a craft knife or even scissors to build your bird, this is a fun project to share with a special child in your life.

(If you would like to see the other bird and butterfly Assembli kits, check out the sale page on the Pieceocake.com website.)
