About Becky Goldsmith

I am a quilt designer/teacher/author, a wife/mother/grandmother, and certified yoga instructor who is searching for balance, strength, and happiness in all things.

Show and tell…

Marilyn McWilliams took my Bullseye class on Creative Spark as part of a guild class. She sent photos of her progress as she worked toward making a 40” wall hanging. Here are the Center and Rings 1 and 2. The next photos shows the fabrics she planned to use in the next rings.

And here it is with Rings 3, 4, and 5—it’s amazing! The next photo shows the fabric she will use for the corners and the flying geese border blocks. This quilt allows you to play with color in a way that not every pattern does.

Lap App show and tell…

Look at the cute Lap App cover and matching pillow that Janet made! She sent me this photo after watching last week’s Time Out. I think that using a small pillow with the Lap App is a brilliant idea—well done and thank you for the idea, Janet!

Janet does not live in the US and would love to hear about the various Quilting Festivals and Shows that take place in here, so on her next trip she will have a Must See, Must Do Quilting Travel Wish List. Feel free to leave a comment with your suggestions!

I will kick off the ideas with Quilt Festival in Houston. It is an experience that every quilter should have at least once! More than once is even better :-).

Show and tell…

Connie Werner sent me this photo of her first needle turn project—amazing, right!? I love her colors and knowing that she enjoyed needleturn so much that she is doing more. Yay!

I made from your excellent teaching and pattern. I call it May Baskets.
I hope to have Birds in Toyland ready for this spot by December.
Thanks again for all your inspiration!
Connie

The May Baskets epattern is available individually here. It is also in the ebook, Curl-Up Quilts.

Than k you, Connie, for sharing your lovely quilt with us!

The secret lives of scissors…

Do they really live secret lives? I don’t know but there are things to know about scissors that are not obvious. Even if you have heard me talk about scissors before, there is new information in this Time Out about scissors. Enjoy!

Wednesday Giveaway

Pam Unnash is the winner of this week’s Giveaway! She will receive Clover’s 3/4˝ pins. I sometimes use them to pin my applique in place but I use them a lot on my design wall. I like then on the wall because they work without being too visible.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!

Wednesday Giveaway

Seam rippers… I have a love/hate relationship with mine. I don’t like having to use one but I do love it when it works well.

Connie Werner is this week’s winner. She will receive one of Alex Anderson’s 4-in-1 tools that has a great ripper, a stiletto, a flat end for pressing and a pointy end to Turing corners inside-out.

I’ll be back with another Giveaway next Wednesday. Until then you can shop for all sorts of sewing notions, books, and other fun stuff at pieceocake.com!
