Aunt Millie’s Floral Cabins, Show and Tell…

Floral Cabins is the Peace River Quilt Guild 2027 Opportunity Quilt. Learn more about this wonderful quilt below…

This quilt top was donated to our Guild by the husband of former Guild member Connie Deckenbach, after she passed away. Connie had completed the center Log Cabin but the wide borders were unfinished.

Linda Macklin found the perfect pattern for the border & purchased “Aunt Millie’s Garden” by Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins. Once the written permission from Becky Goldsmith, arrived allowing us to use the border pattern Linda, along with JoAnn Burtscher, Pat Moore and Jane Schurr donated all the bright batiks and hand appliquéd the border.

Guild Member Robin Kinley quilted the quilt and Pat Moore did the binding. The label was the finishing touch made by Pam Hunt.

This quilt was entered into the PRQG’s 2025 quilt show and won First Place in the Collaborative Category.

I’m sure Connie is smiling down on her friends and I know whoever wins this opportunity quilt will love and treasure it. Thank you, Linda, for sharing it with us!

Steve’s Birds – Show and Tell…

Linda Souza sent me her version of Steve’s Birds and I am sure you will love it as much as I do!

Linda wrote:

I just loved working on this. The birds are wool applique on cotton. I added the names because everyone who would see what I was working on asked the bird names.😎 As you can see the red robins at the lower left, not a part of the pattern were added only because we see lots of robins in the San Francisco bay area.

Thank you for this great project.

Thank you, Linda, for sharing your quilt with all of us! I love your robins… you did a great job designing that block! I grew up with robins but we don’t see them much around here—at least not around our house—and I miss them. I also like the names you added! Well done, you!

Steve’s Birds – Show and tell…

I met Gini Frederick in Sun City Festival when I visited Linda a month or so ago. She shared her unfinished Steve’s Birds blocks and has since put the top together. I like the setting, which is different from mine, and the addition of the flying geese blocks. Well done, Gini!

I loved making this quilt. It was so much fun and so rewarding. I did not do needle turn, but instead fusible applique. You might recall one of my quilting buddies, Jami Smith, already shared her quilt with you. We both had fun sharing and comparing our blocks.

Thanks again for sharing Steve’s birds!

Thank you, Gini, for sharing your quilt with us and I’m glad that you enjoyed making it! May you have many more happy stitches :-).

Show and tell: My Whimsical Quilt Garden

Pamela Rubinos just completed this quilt using our pattern for My Whimsical Quilt Garden. She wrote:

I had a wonderful time making it. I used a lot of my Tilda scraps along with others. I love your patterns and work. They’re all great. I’m looking forward to the Bloom BOM.

Pamela designed her own special border and it suits the quilt well. The colors are lovely, and the quilting sets it all off perfectly. Well done, Pamela! Thank you for sharing with us!

Show and tell: Steve’s Birds

Jami Smith sent this photo of her Steve’s Birds quilt top and I love it! Jami’s fabric choices manage to set each bird apart into its own space, while still working together as a whole. Well done, Jami, and thank you for sharing!

She wrote:

I so enjoyed making all these birds, thank you.  While my hands don’t allow me to do needle turned I’m still able to do fusible. So looking forward to starting 2025 block of the month. Happy New Year!

Show and Tell… Birds in Toyland!

Carol Meier sent this photo of her completed version of my “Birds in Toyland” pattern. I love it! She said:

Thank you for a fun pattern! It was fun to make, & looks great on our living room wall.

One of the most fun things for me is seeing how others color their quilts and arrange the blocks. Carol used nice, brights lights in her border and those colors make a nice outer edge to the quilt.

Thank you, Carol, for sharing your wonderful Christmas quilt with us!
